WINTER FLOTATION & RAIN WEAR
Flotation & Survival Gear
130 Years of Marine Experience Behind Every Product
Since 1877, when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen made his first "Oilskin" waterproof jackets, the company has pushed the boundaries of fabric technology. Trust, protection and quality were the watch words...the rest, as they say, is history.
Helly Hansen has been at the forefront of Safety-at-Sea since it launched "Kapok" life belts in 1932. They were revolutionary in a time when few fishermen were able to swim. In 1972 Helly Hansen launched PVC foam with closed cells. Closed cell foam is inherently buoyant, and thus not as susceptible to damage - and loss of buoyancy - from puncturing. Production of survival suits began in 1974 in response to demand from the fledgling oil industry. Today the Safety-at-Sea collection continues the company's tradition, offering innovative products.
